Friday, September 10, 2010 "Environmentally Friendly Methods for Disease Control" Speaker: Sharon Douglas PhD. Southbury Public Library, Kingsley Room 100 Poverty Road, Southbury Business Meeting: 11 a.m. Program: 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.
Dr. Douglas is a plant pathologist and head of the Department of Plant Pathology and Ecology of the Connecticut Agriculture and Experiment Station in New Haven. She has over 27 years experience researching and diagnosing plant health problems for commercial growers, plant professionals and homeowners. She also co-directs the Molecular Plant Diagnostics Laboratory which was created to develop rapid methods to detect new and re-emerging plant pathogens. Dr. Douglas has also spoken to meetings of national and international grower groups, horticultural clubs, special interest groups and students. Interested area residents are welcome to attend for a five dollar donation, which includes a light lunch at noon and the program at 12:30 p.m. No prior registration is required.
